Landcare Research, our parent company
Sirtrack is an independent subsidiary company of Landcare Research, a Crown Reseach Institute established by the New Zealand government to focus on the sustainable management of land resources, including optimising primary production, enhancing biodiversity, increasing the resource efficiency of businesses, and conserving and restoring the natural assets of our communities. In short, Landcare Research aims to make a difference for a truly clean, green New Zealand.
Since its establishment in 1992, Landcare Research has cemented its position as New Zealand’s foremost environmental research organisation. It currently has over 390 staff, of which 320 are involved in research. Landcare Research has strong collaborative links with other Crown Research Institutes and Universities, so it can use the most effective combination of skills on any given project. Researchers are supported by sophisticated technology, analytical laboratories and specialised support such as legal and graphic services, communications and business development, and an extensive specialised library.
To support Sirtrack, Landcare Research provides us with electronic access to their modern, comprehensive, and specialised library which links to libraries worldwide. This allows us to keep abreast of developments in radio-tracking and allied technologies, and it also means we can quickly and easily research particular wildlife species and topics.
